Through the lens of Anansi the Spider storyteller, trickster, and cultural icon students embark on a poetic journey of self-expression, imagination, and ancestral connection. Using the Anansi Method, a step-by-step creative process inspired by weaving and storytelling, participants explore meditation, freewriting, symbolism, and structured poetic forms. This dynamic and culturally grounded workshop empowers students to discover their poetic voices and share them in community. Rooted in African diasporic folklore and creative expression, this workshop uses writing, performance, and self-reflection to guide students in crafting their own powerful poetry.

  • This is a four-session residency

Requirements: Quiet and open space for movement and meditation, tables or desks for writing, internet access if possible (for cultural and symbolic research). Optional: small performance space for final sharing circle. Teachers must be present at all times during workshops.
